First ride outside on the Bike this year

So this is how my day went.  I woke up around 7:30am went for a run 32km run at 9:00am.  Nice easy run ( 8:00 min miles) until the end turned into 7:30 to 7:00 min miles.  It was so nice out and I got it set in my head that I’ve got 60 km to do after this on my bike “don’t push it” , but that never works.  No pain no again for me.  So at the 13 mile mark I decide I was going to ride outside.  My buddy Mike told about a 50km loop; which is epically 50 km.  I did a few block is town to make up the other 10 km.

The first 6 mile were around 32 to 34km.  Just wanted to keep my cadence at 90 RPM.  Then the hills came around the 32km mark.  That is where I need the work big time.  I grind through them around a 14 to 20km (cadence at 90 RPM), but no standing up at all in the seat.  I wanted to, but wanted to get the most of the hill work.  Like I needed it after my run this morning.

I figured out something though, while I was out there.  The cheaper the gas price the smoother the road was.  The first 30 km I swear I hit a crack every 2 feet.

I was getting nervous just thinking I was running out of sun light until I took off my sun glasses ……..lol and having to travel hwy #2, but the drivers were pretty fair; which is strange around here.  If I was running they would be driving on the white line, but they gave me the whole one lane to myself.

The whole ride took me 2:03,  and I averaged 28.4km/hr.  I was okay with that because I told my wife I would be about 3 hours and if I wasn’t back in 4 hour to come look for me.

So, the outcome and what I learned from this was….  10 hours at work the next day feels like 20 hours.  Your tired all day legs are rubber neck hurts and It takes too long to wash your bike.  But hey I’ll do it all again in a heart beat.  What doesn’t  kill you only makes you stronger.

Later all
